Third Shift and Sin

It has amazed me (and I am not sure why I am shocked by it) how my sin has flaired up since Hubby has been on third shift this week. I was mad that his "reward" for working so much last week at the Vermilion Grove mine to help Peabody transfer gear was to work third shift upon his return.

This has really been hard on me. Mostly, I am not having my way and my sin is made aware due to it. Keeping the children quiet when we are a stay-at-home-family and staying on task with the daily routine of our home isn't easy or fun. The washer and dryer is off of our bedroom so general household chores are difficult to accomplish and still respect his sleep requirements.

The more the week has passed, the uglier my heart has grown weeds of sin. Then I remember that where He leads me to He will take me through. It is a fleeting thought. It comes and goes. I read my Bible and gain focus and then almost instantly lose my train of thought as the reality of the situation comes into view. I, then, try to get my heart aligned with right thoughts -- boom, they are gone again.

I confessed this to the Lord and asked for Him to give me the right heart. The heart that I need to have to serve my family even when things are not as I want them to be. He has established our home and family and brought us to these circumstances. May He be glorified in them as I seek to put off self and honor Him with my thoughts and actions.
